Mindful choices is what it is all about. This book will guide you through breathing techniques that will make anxiety manageble. It will help you identify your thought patterns. Relieve depressiom. Help you to live more in the moment. Stories and excercises that will help your body mind spirit. It is one of the most practical all encompassing books I have read.
This book was very inspiring and insightful to oneself. We as people become unaware of out life because we have become conditioned to live a certain way with the amount of time we have left in the world. When reading the book a quote that stood out for me was "there is no way to prevent dying. But the cure for the fear of death is to make sure that you have lived" . That was truly an eye opening quote for me. This book has helped me to become more aware and mindful of my habits. It has helped me to improve my over all mind set. I encourage anyone who wants to make positive changes in their lives to read this book. The authors did a great job in taking you step by step.
How many times have you thought or heard that changing yourself can be difficult. Well it is. But at least with this book it just became a bit easier. There are some very empowering principles here that make sense and are truly motivational. After I learned that fighting or ignoring mental health is counterproductive, there needs to be a way to address all the emotions and thoughts should you decide to face demons and break through to a better sense of well being. In that sense this book became a very good friend.
This book undoubtedly has useful information that will help you improve your well-being, including particularly helpful chapters on mindfulness, self-acceptance, and intentional relationships. I appreciated the references provided at the end of each chapter. I also liked the inclusion of a self-assessment so that you know where you are starting at and can monitor your progress. The worksheets that the authors provide for download on their website make this process much easier.

I really wanted to love this book, but it seemed overwhelming. If you follow the program as the authors suggest, it is a major commitment of daily time and effort, and it just felt like too much. I struggled just to read the book, which struck me as unnecessarily long and repetitive.

The book is well-written, informative, and encouraging, and it does offer many practical suggestions for improving your well-being, so you may enjoy this more than I did.

An easy to read guide on achieving mindfulness in your daily life. The authors provide meaningful tools to track your progress on a daily basis. The book is exceptionally well done. If living a mindful life is what you seek, then this book is your vehicle.
Thank you for the clarity and simplicity outlined in this book without mindfulness we are all just drifting on the constantly changing waves of emotions and life events. This is a practical guide to deep reflection and pausing just long enough to thoughtfully decide our next action instead of simply reacting to a stimulus like an overgrown lab mouse.
I really found this book motivating and empowering. The Shearers have synthesized decades of experience as frontline clinicians and expanded on well-validated theories to provide us with an effective strategy for overcoming seemingly life enduring patterns. Their approach is straightforward and evidence-based, incorporating skills from mindfulness, acceptance, and compassion-focused therapies and techniques related to neuroplasticity (groundbreaking fields in my opinion). Its applicable to a wide range of problems (e.g. anxiety, depression, stress) because of its focus on function over form, making it very practical. Their model of “dis-ease” and strategy of tracking progress helps readers stay the course towards optimal wellbeing. Overall, this book is a powerful tool that I will continue to use in my everyday life. From surviving to thriving!
