DNF, It wasn't my cup of tea. I tried to like it, it just didn't hold my attention. The main love interest seemed raggedy and more like a ragamuffin than a grown girl. Then there were two strange guys. I'm not sure who I wanted to root for, because they both managed not to pull of mysterious, just weird. I hope others enjoy this book more than I did.Tags : Amazon.com: Dark Heart Forever (9781444901894): Lee Monroe: Books,Lee Monroe,Dark Heart Forever,Hachette Children's Group,1444901893,Young Adult Fiction Romance General,Young Adult FictionFantasy - General
Dark Heart Forever Lee Monroe Books Reviews
Jane Jonas has never fit in. She's always felt the outsider. Living in a small mountain town with her father a carpenter her mother a home maker and her younger sister Dot she's quite content to be homeschooled. Her attempt at traditional school didn't go well when a girl bullied her unmercifully and she wouldn't go back after the humiliation Sarah had put her through.
The story begins approaching Jane's 16th birthday she's been having dreams that feel very real about a boy she is inexplicablly drawn to. Then another boy comes into town and sweeps her off her feet.
Jane's problem is she is drawn to one (Luca) and attracted to Evan who is coming on very strong. The push and pull she feels only gets stranger as secrets about Luca are reveled and she has no apparent concern about them. But Evan who seems to be the perfect boyfriend isn't reveling anything least of all the truth.
Don't worry there is a happy ending although I think there may be room for a sequel I can't tell from the ending if there will be.
I enjoyed it and will look forward to more writing from Lee Monroe.
I wasn't sure what to expect with this series, but I was quickly drawn in and couldn't put it down! The story about "plain" Jane falling in love with someone she thought would be above her, and fighting for that love, time & time again. I would definitely recommend this trilogy to anyone who likes the Paranormal Romance type reading.
This carried on a simple plot but was dynamic in it. I really got into this book real fast. It was easy to read and very easy to fall into. The first thing that really grab you is the storyline. I like how it started off with haunting dreams and sleepwalking. It made you more interested in this book to see where exactly this girl is walking too.
Jane is like a girl like no other. She carries to her own tune and doesn't let anyone tell her otherwise. She has very good observations in her surroundings and figures out things fast. 'Right away she figures out that things are what they seem with Luca. And it was no surprise that she took everything in with stride. But with Even she didn't catch on to things so fast.
What I like most about this story is how the past came back to her mother. Yup, that was twist. I really like how the mother played am important role in the past desicions she made. It really makes Jane's decisions even harder. Make the same mistake her mother made or do something different. I really like how both the mother and Jane had the same feelings in which their heart should go. It was like the past was repeating itself.
Dark Heart Forever is a dark book with a haunting secret just dying to get out. The characters were raw so you saw them develop right before your eyes and unveil many news things. The reader is immerse in two different worlds fighting for many things. Love and Revenge!
You know, I just didn't buy into this book as much as I thought I would. I really liked it in the beginning, since both Jane and Luca manage to narrowly avoid the stereotypes set forth by the many YA authors that have come before them. I was pleased that, despite Luca's revelation, the author managed to avoid the macho Alpha Male role he could have easily fallen into, and Jane is a moderately interesting protagonist. Not really the most complex I've read, but neither is she delving into Bella Swan territory.
So why didn't I like it more? Well, to be honest, the storyline is convoluted as heck, and doesn't always make sense. Jane and Luca suffer from the all-too-common InstaLove phenomenon, but then Luca spends the rest of the book insisting they can't be together. (Which would be more believable if he'd stop stalking her, but whatever.) Jane then starts spending time with bad boy Evan, who unfortunately does fit the cliched Alpha Male mold. A love triangle in YA PNR, who would have thought? /sarcasm
Where it gets even trickier is the so-called plot. As it turns out, Evan is really the son of the angel Jane's mother had a long-ago fling with prior to getting married. Since Evan's father has disappeared, he's apparently convinced himself that Jane's mother is to blame and schemes to somehow take out his revenge on Jane. This seriously makes zero sense, particularly considering how much TIME AND EFFORT he puts into this. Just kill somebody and move along.
Lastly, the ending is anti-climactic and flat. Luca, a werewolf, naturally races to the rescue, despite his family attempting to lock him up for getting involved with a human. Once he gets there to rescue the damsel in distress, he, his sister, and Jane's mother all reveal that Evan is wrong, and his father didn't abandon his family because of his prior fling with Jane's mother (yes, I know this is confusing to follow).
Once he realizes this, Evan leaves. That's it. The big, bad werewolf hurries to rescue his quasi-girlfriend, only to talk to the attempted murderer briefly and send him on his way. Luca then announces he must "deal with his family" before committing to Jane, and vanishes. No offense, Luca, but you aren't really striking me as the deal-with-problems-head-on kinda guy right now.
This ending basically left me with more questions than answers. Where DID Evan's father go? Why CAN'T Luca and Jane be together? And just how much longer is this story going to drag on?
Dark Heart Forever arrived in amazing condition that was described in the description. It arrived in the estimated time and I am very happy with my purchase of Dark Heart Forever.
This book was interesting to read. The main character was frustrating but that is a character choice so no biggy. The way in which the story was written was a bit of a hassle though. I guess the style of writing just gave a twilight vibe (not in a good way though.) Overall it was a good book. I don't finish books I don't like so the fact I find wished this in a good pace makes this a pretty good read. Would recommend.
